The Director of Planning Services noted that the Committee provided direction at the last meeting held on February 14, 2022.  The recommendations in the report were in direct response to the specific direction of the Committee.

There will be additional public consultation occurring to support the Committee in its decision making process.  Public information will be posted for 30 days on Let’s Talk Chatham-Kent and the April 11th, 2022 Committee meeting will be designated as a public meeting to received deputations including in writing to be read by the Clerk and directly from people online.  He noted that all submissions will be compiled in a report for the May 16, 2022 Committee meeting.

Councillor Latimer noted that she received a petition with 447 signatures from the Kent Federation of Agriculture requesting support regarding the Chatham Kent Woodlot Preservation Motion Consultation Process. She further noted that she has brought this forward for her constituents as the landowners feel that they have not been heard and the information they have brought forward has not been documented or considered.

Concerns were raised with direct appointing a specific consulting firm without following the municipality’s purchasing by-law.

The Chair asked for a motion to extend the meeting.
