As per By-law 108-2024, Section 7.9(a) Any person who wishes to appear before Council regarding an item on the current agenda shall make written application to [email protected], by noon, the day of the meeting, to be placed on the Agenda to appear before Council at the meeting at which it will be dealing with the item of interest to the deputation.

The Budget Committee will move into a Closed Session Meeting pursuant to Section 239 of the Municipal Act, 2001, as amended, for the following reasons:

  • Personal matters about an identifiable individual, including municipal or local board employees, labour relations or employee negotiations and advice that is subject to solicitor-client privilege, including communications necessary for that purpose relating to labour contracts, net job evaluation changes and net progression increases per labour contracts. Section 239(2)(b), (d), and (f), Municipal Act, 2001.

As per the Public Notice By-law, Chatham-Kent Council hereby gives public notice of its intention to hold public meetings, and adopt the 2025 Annual Budget Update, and pass a resolution to end Council’s budget review immediately following receipt of a recommended budget from the Chatham-Kent Budget Committee. Such a resolution would initiate the Mayor’s opportunity to veto any amendments, or where such veto is waived, result in a final budget.


The Budget Committee also gives public notice of the need to meet in Closed Session at any time during the budget deliberation process, as permitted by the Municipal Act, 2001.
